Plans filed for 21K sf synagogue in Crown Heights
Bais Shmuel Chabad, on December 9, filed a permit application for construction of a 21,215-square-foot community building at 1512 Union Street in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Rabbi Moshe Pinson filed the plans.
The plans call for the construction of a 35-foot-tall, three-story building and were filed with the New York City Department of Buildings under job number B00644691. The development site spans one tax lot.
The project is described in the filing as: three-story and cellar community facility building.
Per the plans, the ground floor of the building will have a lobby and house of worship. The second floor will have office space. The cellar will have a ritual bath, exercise room, longe, kitchen, and multipurpose room. The roof will have recreation space.
A local news outlet reported in January of this year that a $1 million charity campaign was launched, geared on getting the project started.
The architect listed is S. Wieder Architect P.C.
The property was acquired for $2.4 million on March 24, 2021.
