The New York City Housing Authority filed plans with a total “initial cost” of $35 million for work on the roofs of 43 buildings in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The bulk of the cost is directed at eight Van Dyke buildings in Brownsville, Brooklyn, with $21 million of work, and the balance of just over $14 million is set for 35 of the brownstones that are part of the West Side Urban Renewal homes.
All the projects, which were filed separately, had the same job description: roofing replacement and roof structure renovation.
In Brownsville, the buildings included the 107-unit 362 Sutter Avenue and the 150-unit 370 Blake Avenue, while on the Upper West Side all the buildings are six to 10 units and they included the 10-unit 47 West 89th Street and the 8-unit 64 West 91st Street.
The work in Brownsville ranged from $2.08 million to $3.08 million per buildings, and in Manhattan the cost ranged from $279,119 to $566,171 per building.
