McSam Hotel Group files plans for 408-key hotel in Jamaica

Sam Chang’s McSam Hotel Group, on January 11, filed a permit application for construction of a 408-key, 126,558-square-foot hotel at 144-02 135th Avenue in Jamaica.

The plans call for the construction of a 127-foot tall, 13-story hotel.

The project is described in the filings as: hereby filing for a new 13-story hotel building.

Per the plans, the building’s cellar will have a break room, office space, and exercise room. The ground floor will have a hotel lobby, reception area and office, dining area, and pantry. Floors two through 13 will each have 34 rooms per floor. The building will also have parking for 51 cars.

Gene Kaufman Architect PC is listed as the architect.

No demolition plans have been filed yet.

The developer has owned the site since the late 1990s according to city records.

The prolific hotel developer has multiple other hotels in the works. On July 31 the developer filed a permit application for construction of a 169-key, 50,000-square-foot hotel at 777 Eighth Avenue in Midtown West. Chang followed that up by filing plans for a 103-room, 28,853-square-foot hotel building at 62 Mulberry Street in Chinatown the next month.
