Jiashu “Chris” Xu to pay Catholic Church $5.5M for vacant Woodside parcel

Jiashu “Chris” Xu signed a contract November 19, 2020, to pay the Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens $5.5 million for a 20,000-square-foot vacant Woodside parcel, according to a petition filed in New York State Supreme Court yesterday.

Xu was the signatory for the buyer. The property is 39-53 57th Street, owned by and adjacent to St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church just north of Roosevelt Avenue. The closing date was provided in the contract documents.

The broker was Cushman & Wakefield, according to the contract.

Xu, who leads the firm United Construction & Development Group, is also building the 802-unit condominium skyscraper in Long Island City, Skyline Tower, which had its condominium declaration recorded in July 2020.
