iStar Inc. ceased to exist in 2023 after merging into its subsidiary, Safehold Inc., which survives as a pure-play commercial ground lease business. iStar’s remaining non-ground lease real estate assets and loans were spun off into Star Holdings, a separate entity focused on liquidating those legacy investments.
