City clarifies it has owned Long Island City parcel since 1930
The City Of New York clarified that it is the owner of a parcel of land under an elevated roadway. It has owned the land since it was seized under eminent domain in 1930, but the city was not able to located the vesting order. It was not clear if there was a broader reason that the document was filed. The parcel is the tax class land not zoned residential or Manhattan below 110th Street (V1) at 42-85 hunter Street in Long Island City. The acquisition closed on February 28, 1930 and was recorded on August 23, 2019.
The property contains zero square feet of built space. The property has 49,775 square feet of available development rights.
