Bloomberg LP pays $36M to Bloomingdales for space in SL Green’s 919 Third Avenue in Midtown East

Bloomberg L.P. paid Bloomingdales, Inc. $36.1 million for an interest in space in SL Green Realty’s 1.3-million-square foot 919 Third Avenue in Midtown East. The deal closed on January 31, 2020, and was recorded on February 11, 2020.

Bloomberg acquired an interest in some portion of space Bloomingdales leases in the building. The building is owned by SL Green Realty through a ground lease. This type of filing typically represents a lease buyout, but this could not be known through the document alone. Bloomingdales occupies space in the building, including a 10-year lease for 47,763 square feet signed in 2013, which at the time brought the retailer to 204,442 square feet in the building.
The DOB issued a major alteration (A1) initial temporary certificate of occupancy for the building on March 6, 2017.
Over the past five years, there have been 106 NYC Department of Buildings permit applications filed for this parcel valued at more than $20,000. There were 3 major renovation applications including a certificate of occupancy change (A1) filed with a total estimated value of $8,669,000. There were 103 renovation/alteration projects (A2) applied for with a total estimated value of $158,072,426.
