Ohio pension fund fully permitted for $14M renovation at 590 Madison in Plaza District

The State Teachers Retirement Fund of Ohio, on March 20, was given a permit for a $13.6 million renovation of the office building 590 Madison Avenue in the Plaza District.

The plans call for a renovation of four floors of the 585-foot tall, 43-story, building.

The project is described in the filings as: minor demolition with installation of new partitions, doors, suspended ceilings and finishes on the 35th through 38th floors (American securities) as per plans. No change to use, egress or occupancy. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $13,639,325.

In the summer of 2018, the pension fund considered selling the building, which was valued at as much as $1.3 billion.
