Silvercup Studios plans 20K sf movie studio Port Morris

Alan Suna of Silvercup Studios, on May 19, filed a permit application for the construction of a 20,019-square-feet motion picture studio at 903 East 140th Street in the Port Morris neighborhoods of the Bronx.

The plans call for a two-story, 65-foot-tall commercial building.

The plans are stated as: herewith filing new building.

The motion picture studio will occupy the first and second floors, according to the plans. There will also be two mezzanine floors which will be used for mechanical and equipment rooms.

The architect listed on file is Shalat Architects P.C.

According to information filed with the City Record, Silvercup Studios seeks financial assistance in connection with the design, construction, furnishing and equipping of a to-be-built, approximately 20,000 square foot building located on an approximately 11,250 square foot parcel of land, located at 903 East 140th Street. The facility will be owned and operated by the company and will be used to provide sound stages, television studios, office space, and ancillary space and services to producers of media content.
The company is offering to make payments in lieu of city real property taxes, and seeks partial exemption from city and state mortgage recording taxes, and exemption from city and state sales and use taxes. The total project cost is $12.3 million, according to the filing, and will create eight full-time equivalent jobs.
