Akelius receives TCO for $3M project to add 14 units to Fiorello La Guardia’s former home
Akelius Real Estate Management, on November 25, was issued a temporary certificate of occupancy for a $3 million project that added 14-units to a 56,670-square-foot residential building at 1274 Fifth Avenue in Carnegie Hill. The building was once home to New York City Mayor Fiorello La Guardia.
The plans, pre-filed on January 10, 2019, call for the addition of 14 units to the 65-foot tall, six-story building, bringing the total unit count from 55 to 69. The time from pre-file to TCO was one year and 10 months.
The project is described in the filings as: converting 55 dwelling units into 69 dwelling units as per filed herewith. The initial cost as reported in the DOB filing for the work described in this permit application is $3,014,600.00.
According to the plans, the ground floor gained one dwelling unit, the second floor gained three dwelling units, the third floor gained four dwelling units, the fourth floor gained one dwelling unit, the fifth floor gained two dwelling units, and the sixth floor gained three dwelling units.
Mancini Duffy was the architect named.
The U.S. arm of the Swedish investment firm Akelius purchased the property for $44.1 million on February 22, 2018.
La Guardia lived in the building for part of his tenure as mayor from 1934 to 1945.
